Be Here! On Time, All Day, Every Day…
Over Spring Break, District 204 finalized a new system that will email parents of students who are considered “chronically absent” (missing more than 10 of school days). In upcoming newsletters and communication, I will include research and statistics on the importance of school attendance. Chronic absence is the single strongest predictor of dropping out of school before graduation. Students who drop out of school are much more likely to be poor, unemployed, have substance abuse problems, be teen parents, and be involved with the law.
