New Last Day of School...At the April 8, 2019 Board of Education meeting, the board approved the amended 2018-19 school calendar to adjust the last day of school due to the emergency days used for the extreme weather this winter. The new last day of school is now Thursday, June 6, 2019. The link below has the approved revised school calendar.

District Preschool Program Coming to South Naperville…District 204's Prairie Children Preschool will soon be expanding to south Naperville. Starting with the 2019-20 school year, the preschool program will have classrooms at Graham Elementary School. The preschool’s main campus is located at 780 Shoreline Dr., Aurora. For the past several years, the preschool has also offered its program at Longwood, Gombert and McCarty Elementary Schools on the district’s north side.

Prairie Children Preschool offers early childhood education for children ages three and four and is open to all District 204 residents. The program provides a continuum of instruction based on learning standards aligned with District 204’s kindergarten program. All classroom teachers are licensed by the Illinois State Board of Education and hold endorsements in the areas of early childhood education, early childhood special education, and English as a second language.

Preschool classes are 2.5 hours each day, Monday through Thursday. Tuition is $245 a month. Visit the website for enrollment materials: Preschool Website

No Pets…While we love to see everyone’s cute pets, please refrain from bring pets on school grounds during arrival and dismissal of school.

IAR…The IAR assessment (Illinois Assessment of Readiness, formally known as the PARCC) is still going on. Please see the link sent out via email for students in grades 3-5 and note that your student’s attendance and promptness for school are essential. We kindly ask you to consider this when scheduling appointments. Once a child has started a testing session, we cannot interrupt the classroom to retrieve your child for an early dismissal. Please let me know if you have any questions.

VISITORS TO WELCH…Please note that all visitors to Welch will be asked to share their name and reason for the visit upon entry to the building— once buzzed in, we ask that all visitors check in at the Main Office and have a valid photo ID with them. Thank you for your understanding and support!
