Help Support Families in Need…District 204 currently has 18 percent of its students qualifying for free or reduced lunch. This translates to more than 5,000 students. Purchasing school supplies so children are prepared for the school year can be challenging for low-income families. To address this problem, the Indian Prairie Parents' Council (IPPC) is hosting a drive to support families who may need assistance when their children return to school in August. If you would like to help make a difference for our families, you can make a donation in any amount by visiting DONATE. If you would prefer to write a check, please make it payable to Indian Prairie Parents' Council. Checks can be mailed to Community Relations Coordinator, Crouse Education Center, 780 Shoreline Drive, Aurora, IL 60504. IPPC will use 100 percent of funds collected to purchase school supply kits and gift cards for distribution through the schools to families in need.

Yearbooks…We have a limited number of yearbooks that are available for purchase if you did not purchase one. If you would like one, please send cash (exact change) or check made payable to Welch Elementary School. The cost of the yearbook is $15.00. If you have any questions, please contact Cathy Rhoades ( Yearbooks will be distributed to students the week of June 3rd.

Leaving before the Last Day of School?? If you have a student(s) leaving before the last day of school which is June 6th, please notify the Office and teacher as soon as possible. This will allow a Report Card to be available for your student on their last day of attendance as the Home Access Account will be unavailable. Also, please be sure that you have completed all the Registration requirements to ensure that your student will be placed in a class for the upcoming school year. If you have any questions, please contact the Office at 630.428.7200. Thank you.

Welch Book Swap …Were you cleaning your bookshelves while thinking about Earth Day? Have your children outgrown a few of the books on your shelves? Welch is planning to have a book swap the last week of school so that children can have books to read over the summer. We will be accepting book donations during the whole month on May in the LMC. Please see information here:

District Preschool Program Coming to South Naperville…District 204's Prairie Children Preschool will soon be expanding to south Naperville. Starting with the 2019-20 school year, the preschool program will have classrooms at Graham Elementary School. The preschool’s main campus is located at 780 Shoreline Dr., Aurora. For the past several years, the preschool has also offered its program at Longwood, Gombert and McCarty Elementary Schools on the district’s north side. Prairie Children Preschool offers early childhood education for children ages three and four and is open to all District 204 residents. The program provides a continuum of instruction based on learning standards aligned with District 204’s kindergarten program. All classroom teachers are licensed by the Illinois State Board of Education and hold endorsements in the areas of early childhood education, early childhood special education, and English as a second language. Preschool classes are 2.5 hours each day, Monday through Thursday. Tuition is $245 a month. Visit the website for enrollment materials.
