CURRICULUM NIGHT… Please mark your calendars for this fall’s Curriculum Night. This evening is designed to allow parents the opportunity to better get to know their child’s teacher and hear about the curriculum designed for their child’s grade level. Curriculum night will be held on Tuesday, September 10th, for all grade levels. Each grade level has two identical sessions from which to choose.

First Session: 6:00-6:30 p.m Second Session: 6:45-7:15 p.m.

Please note that this evening is for PARENTS ONLY. Welch students and siblings are not invited to this important night for parents.

SAFETY WEEK…Safety Week will take place at our school the week of September 9th. During this week, we will teach safety lessons to students. The lessons will cover the mandatory drills for fire and tornado and also general school safety. The following safety skills will be presented in age appropriate ways: listen to an adult, be alert, situational awareness, moving with a purpose, exit awareness and rally points. These lessons are designed to cover the basic components of school safety without creating anxiety or worry in students. We look forward to an engaging week with our students. Please contact my office if you have any questions. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school safe.

PENNY WARS FOR WELCH AND TEAM IPEF…Please support Team IPEF and Welch in raising money with a PENNY WAR! Each grade level will have their own jug for collecting money. Money jugs will be in the LMC. Students can GAIN points to their grade level by adding pennies and bills and LOWER other grade level totals by adding silver coins
to their jugs. Points are calculated as follows:

Pennies +1 point
$1 + 100 points
$5 + 500 points
$10 + 1000 points
$20 + 2000 points

Nickels - 5 points
Dimes - 10 points
Quarter - 25 points

The grade with the most “points” at the end of each week
wins a prize!
1st week prize = Pajama/Favorite Junk Food Snack from Home/Movie Day
(snack must be nut free)
2nd week prize = Pizza Party!

KIDS MARATHON - LAST CHANCE! Join your friends as a charity hero with Team IPEF in the Naperville Kids Marathon. Students must be between the ages of 4-13 on race day, and commit to running/walking 25 miles (one mile at a time) between now and October 18. On Saturday, October 19, the students run/walk the final 1.2 miles at Neuqua Valley High School and will enjoy a wonderful celebration of accomplishment. All participants receive a shirt and finisher medal. Registration will be closing soon. Sign up today and help us win a $1,000 prize for being the school with the most participants. Welch is currently in SECOND place with 24 runners signed up (the winning school currently has 32!) - let’s show them that Welch is #1 and win that $1000 for our school!
