We had an amazing Penny War this year, raising $2157.58 for Team IPEF! Our fourth grade took the lead Week #1, earning a pj/movie/special snack day last week, and our fifth grade brought in the most for Week #2, earning a Little Caesar’s Pizza Party this coming Friday! Thank you to everyone for your participation and generosity for a fantastic organization and cause!

LMC… Would you like to volunteer to assist in the library? We are looking for volunteers to check in and shelve books and to assist small groups in the Makerspace. If you would like to volunteer, please send an email to (Lynn Domek, LMC Director) with dates and times you are available - and if you prefer checking in/shelving books or working with small groups of students in the Makerspace. Include your name, your child’s name/classroom teacher and what grade level you would prefer to work with. We also have availability to assist Kindergarten students with book checkouts.

Thank you, to Mr. Freeze, as Welch S.T.E.A.M.’s Up!

WINTER COAT AND BOOT DRIVE: The district-wide Indian Prairie Parent Council's Winter Coat and Boot Drive is collecting early this year to ensure that children have their winter gear before the cold weather begins! If you're cleaning out your closets soon, consider donating new or gently used, clean coats of all sizes (infant through adult), in addition to other winter accessories (boots, hats, gloves, scarves, snow pants, etc). The coats will be distributed to families in need within our district in October.

Welch Elementary School will be collecting clean, gently worn coats and winter accessories from Monday, September 23 through Friday, September 27. Please drop off items in the marked bin in the school's front lobby. If you have any questions, please contact Josie Christopherson at
