Retrieving Student Items

As we near the end of the school year, we want to provide families with an opportunity to retrieve any belongings a student might have at school. Teachers are in the process of bagging and labeling student materials for parent/guardian curbside pick up next week. If your child is missing a specific item, please email your child’s teacher as soon as possible. On the day that your child’s teacher is at the school bagging student materials, a lesson will be posted for Remote Learning and they will be unavailable for typical remote learning communication. Individual teachers will let you know the day that they will not be available. Thank you for your understanding.

On Wednesday, May 20th , you must drive to Welch to pick up your child(ren)’s materials. In the case of rain, the make-up day will be May 22. Please contact me via email if you are unable to retrieve items this day (sarah_nowak@ipsd.org).

The schedule for pick up is as follows. Letters assigned are to LAST NAMES. If you have children with different last names, choose a time that works best for you.

A-C - 9:00 - 10:00 AM
D-J - 10:00 - 11:00 AM
K-N - 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
O-S - 12:30 - 2:00 PM
T-Z - 2:00 - 3:00 PM

Parents will need to drive to the school to maintain social distancing. If you are unable to drive, please contact Sarah Nowak to make alternative arrangements. In the interest of safety for you and for our staff, we ask that you follow these procedures when you arrive for your scheduled pick up time:

Please review the MAP or traffic flow.

Please use your green car sign given at the beginning of the school year OR create a sign (8 ½ x 11 paper size) with your child(ren)’s first and last name.

Place the sign on the dashboard, visible to staff.

Drivers should turn on their hazard flashers while they are in line.

Be prepared to return library books, textbooks and/or broken Chromebooks. Place them in a plastic bag with your child’s name on the bag and put the bag in your car’s trunk.

Enter the carline.

Once your car reaches the designated spot, please open the trunk and/or side door. DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE. A staff member will place your child’s items in your trunk and collect the items in your trunk that you are returning. Make sure your child’s name is on the bag for the items you are returning.

Staff will not be going into the building to retrieve other items.

If you have medication or medical devices to pick-up from the school nurse, please drive your car to the nurse’s pickup station. A staff member will bring items to you and place them in your trunk. The Nurse’s Station at Welch will be located in the front circle drive.

Items not picked up will be donated.

Please reach out to me if you do not have access to a vehicle on Wednesday, May 20th, as our pick up procedures are for cars only. Please let me know if you will not have access to a vehicle on the 20th by Monday, May 18th so we can make alternative arrangements.
