Gift of Reading Materials
The Gift of Summer Reading… Next week all students will be bringing home Summer Reading packs of books at their grade level. These books are a gift from District 204 and the hope is that ongoing practice will help each child continue to flourish in their reading. Reading for a minimum of 20 minutes each day will help your child think critically about content, connect with local libraries, learn more about different authors, plots and characters, and further develop a lifelong skill that leads to academic success. This summer reading will accomplish several goals: encourage a lifelong love of reading, help your child develop fluency, comprehension, and critical thinking skills, and prevent students from a “summer slide” in reading. In-person learners will be bringing their summer reading packs home on Thursday, June 3rd— our remote learners will be able to pick up their reading packs on Friday, June 4th along with their spring Aimsweb+ data.
Field Day…. We are excited to have some “normalcy” for the end of the year, which will include Field Day for our in-person students! We are planning on Survivor themed Field Day activities for Friday, June 4th. There will be independent field day activities available for our remote learners on this day for them to complete during their special block.
Students will have a special treat to enjoy as they rest and cool down after their last Field Day station. Welch will be providing Dean’s Country Fresh Assorted Pops for the White Tigers. Ingredients are listed here:
Ingredients. Water, Sugar, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Corn Syrup, Contains Less than 2% of Guar Gum, Citric Acid, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Xanthan Gum, Artificial Colors (Red 40, Blue 1, Yellow 5, Yellow 6)
If you don’t wish for your child to partake in the Dean’s Country Fresh Assorted Pops, please complete this FORM by Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

Kindergarten 2021-2022… If you have a child who will be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2021, he or she is eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year.*
We need the Welch Kindergarten Information Sheet as soon as possible so that we can begin planning kindergarten enrollment for the upcoming year. This information will be used to form a kindergarten mailing list. Once on the mailing list, additional information will be mailed to eligible kindergarten parents.
Additionally, please review this presentation for more information about kindergarten in IPSD 204.
If you have any neighbors who do not presently have school-aged children, but will have an incoming kindergartner, please give them a copy of this form or ask them to call our office at 630.428.7200.
*District 204 recommends full day kindergarten. However, if you have questions about attending a half-day of kindergarten, or need early entrance criteria, please contact your child’s principal.
