Welch Updates 06.07.2021
Dear Welch Families,
I would like to extend my deepest gratitude for your partnership with us throughout this very interesting year! We know that you all were co-educators with us this year, working to ensure your students’ success and partner with us! Though challenging, we know that our Welch White Tigers learned so much in perseverance and flexibility, all while maintaining a positive attitude! It is most certainly a GREAT day to be a Welch White Tiger!
Looking forward to a more “normal” 21-22 school year!

The Gift of Summer Reading… Last week all in-person students brought home Summer Reading packs of books at their grade level. These books are a gift from District 204 and the hope is that ongoing practice will help each child continue to flourish in their reading. Reading for a minimum of 20 minutes each day will help your child think critically about content, connect with local libraries, learn more about different authors, plots and characters, and further develop a lifelong skill that leads to academic success. This summer reading will accomplish several goals: encourage a lifelong love of reading, help your child develop fluency, comprehension, and critical thinking skills, and prevent students from a “summer slide” in reading. If your in-person or remote learner have not yet picked up the Summer Reading Packs, please plan on picking them up TOMORROW, June 7th between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. If you are unable to pick them up, please contact our office at 630.428.7200.

Please note that fees were charged to Pushcoin last week— even if you have paid the fees it does not mean you have registered. Chromebook Return... Please see attached information sheet about returning Chromebooks at the end of the school year. Any Chromebook returned in damaged condition will have fines noted and posted to Pushcoin. Thank you for returning all Chromebooks AND chargers. Remote students can return Chromebooks on Friday, June 4th between 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM or Monday, June 7 from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM. Please know this is a change in original times. In person students will be returning their Chromebooks AND chargers according to their teacher timeframe.
Kindergarten 2021-2022… If you have a child who will be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2021, he or she is eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year.*
We need the Welch Kindergarten Information Sheet as soon as possible so that we can begin planning kindergarten enrollment for the upcoming school year. This information will be used to form a kindergarten mailing list. Once on the mailing list, additional information will be mailed to eligible kindergarten parents. Additionally, please review this presentation for more information about kindergarten in IPSD 204. If you have any neighbors who do not presently have school-aged children, but will have an incoming kindergartner, please give them a copy of this form or ask them to call our office at 630.428.7200.
*District 204 recommends full day kindergarten. However, if you have questions about attending a half-day of kindergarten, or need early entrance criteria, please contact your child’s principal.
