Tik Tok Challenges… We have been made aware that there are more Tik Tok challenges circulating around challenges at school. September’s Tik Tok challenge was all about students vandalizing bathrooms and destroying school property. October’s new challenge is termed “smack a staff member on the backside.” Police are warning students these viral TikTok’s are much more than just challenges. They are criminal offenses as some of these challenges are bordering on assault.

Please speak with your student about the serious nature of these challenges and help educate them that these are not appropriate for school. Any student who chooses to carry out any of these challenges at school will be subject to school and police consequences. If your child has any information on these occurrences at school, please encourage them to speak to me or another trusted adult at school.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter!

Self Certification… October 1 was a required self-certification day. Parents need to use ParentVUE to self-certify that students coming on campus are free of COVID-like symptoms. When you log in to ParentVUE, you will see a screen asking you to self-certify that your child is symptom free. If this step is not completed and your child is at school, a health services staff member will call you to discuss your child's health status.

The current transmission level is HIGH which requires monthly self-certification. Self-certification will only show up in ParentVUE on a school day. Please self-certify your child on October 1, 2021.

Please note, if you are using the ParentVUE app to self-certify, you need to make sure you are using the most updated version and are logged in. If you have any difficulties with the app, please use the desktop version to complete self-certification.

Self-certification does not mean you are saying your child is symptom free for an entire month, but rather that you will monitor your child’s health closely every day and keep them home when they are not feeling well. You can report your child's absence using ParentVUE after completing the self-certification process.

Physicals and Immunizations… A recent health physical and up to date immunizations are required per Illinois state law. Those who do not turn in an Illinois Health physical and Immunization record will be excluded from school on October 15th.

Please submit the required health documents as soon as possible. This is to allow time for processing and resolution of any discrepancies prior to the “Exclusion from School” date. The state of Illinois also asks parents/guardians to turn in a recent IL vision and IL dental exam form as well. For any questions, you may contact the health office at 630-428-7204.

Thank you.
