April A+ Award: Mrs. Borghesi, Welch Elementary

The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation (IPEF) and District 204 proudly honor Joni Borghesi, a 3^rd grade teacher at Welch Elementary School, with the April A+ Award. Watch the A+ Award team’s surprise visit to recognize Mrs. Borghesi for “Making a Difference in District 204”.

Mrs. Borghesi was nominated for the A+ Award by current Welch Elementary School parent Monet Whirl. In her essay, she describes Mrs. Borghesi as enthusiastic, supportive, and patient – stating that she makes students feel loved and cared for.

Mrs. Whirl writes, “When she was my son’s teacher, we had just moved across states, and the transition was very tough for us all. Mrs. Borghesi helped to build his confidence and find his place in a new school.” She goes on to say that that Mrs. Borghesi has made a big impact on her daughter this year as well, celebrating her successes and giving her the support she needs when she struggles. “As a parent, that is everything I could ask for.” she concludes.

“It’s all about getting to know the kids and connecting with them,” explained Mrs. Borghesi when she was asked to describe her teaching style, “because that is what they are going to remember.”
